The Lower League Gems series is back once again, bringing you super cheap high potential players. If you liked the series on the best cheap players in FIFA 15 but felt they were too expensive, these are the articles for you – every player will cost you £1m or less!
NOTE: Prices seem to fluctuate a bit on FIFA 15, so you may find the prices listed in this article are slightly different on your game. As such, this article aims to be a guide only and hopes to highlight some of the cheaper options when it comes to high potential players.

This year I made a couple of exceptions to the price rules. I have included players whose clubs want £1.1m for them (as opposed to a maximum price of £1m) because you can negotiate this down to under £1m, and in some cases excluding these players meant to articles were lacking players you could actually buy straight away! For the same reason I have bumped the £500,000 rule up to just under £600,000 (e.g. £525,000, £575,000, etc).
The ‘Cost’ column refers to the price your scout will bring back after he’s looked at the player. The ‘They want’ column refers to the price you will be quoted by the team if you enquire about their player. These enquiry prices are negotiable, so don’t be afraid to bid below what they want.
The ‘Avai?’ column is short for ‘Available?’ and refers to whether the player is available to buy in the first transfer window. The first letter indicates this (Y for yes, they are available and N for no, they are not), whilst the number refers to the length of their contract. Y/1 means the player’s contract is about to expire, so you should be able to get them for a discount price.
Finally, because EA release update squads every week, this could mean that some of the players listed in the article below are slightly different on your game. Furthermore, players sometimes exceed their potential, while it has been noted that occasionally players don’t grow as hoped. Therefore these stats are a guide only.
Here are my recommendations for cheap, high potential right midfielders and right wingers.
Serge Gnabry: potential 82
Serge Gnabry is a pacey winger and available at a rock bottom price
Serge Gnabry is a player I covered in my article on the best high potential right midfielders in FIFA 15, and with good reason. He starts out at 70 OVR, has a massive 82 potential, yet his club, Arsenal, want less than £1m for him. Getting any player with that kind of potential for that kind of money is incredible enough, but when you add in Gnabry’s high OVR and young age (giving him a great chance to exceed his potential), it looks like an unmissable deal.
And it looks even better when you examine some of his stats. With his 85 acceleration and 85 sprint speed, he’s lightning quick, which combined with his 80 balance will see him beating defenders with ease. His 75 dribbling and 73 ball control make him even harder to stop, and his strength – at 66 – is also relatively high and will help him keep hold of the ball. He’s certainly not your typical right midfielder, the type with strength in the 40s that you may be more accustomed to seeing. And to top it all, he’s even got decent passing and crossing, so can assist his teammates and create goals for other players.
Arsenal want £975,000 for him (although they may occasionally ask for £1.1m), so you can get him for around £750,000, perhaps a little less. His wages are £15,000.
Federico Bernardeschi: potential 81
Federico Bernardeschi is available for free. Go for him even if you don’t want him – you can sell him for profit later
Another player I covered in a previous article, Federico Bernardeschi is an even better bargain than Gnabry. As you may have already found out yourself, there are some players in the game who can be bought for absolutely nothing, even if their contract is not about to expire. Bernardeschi is one of those players, allowing you to swoop in and buy a player with 70 OVR and 81 potential completely free. Not bad!
Though not quite as fast as Gnabry, Bernardeschi still has very decent pace that will grow nicely as he improves. His dribbling, ball control and passing are all better than Gnabry’s, though, so if you want a technically astute right midfielder who can beat defenders with both his footwork and his distribution, Bernardeschi is a fantastic option. He’s also got very good long shots, shot power and positioning, so don’t be surprised if he contributes a load of goals to your team over the course of a season.
Despite your scout putting a valuation of £1.3m on him (which usually multiplies into the £4m sort of range), Fiorentina quote you a price of £0 for his services. Go ahead and pick him up for nothing – his wages are £20,000, but that is more or less completely offset by the lack of any transfer fee, making him an unbelievable bargain.
Mauricio Tévez: potential 81
Mauricio Tévez is cheap and has a great OVR for his age, meaning he could well exceed his potential
If, however, you feel the wages of Gnabry and Bernardeschi make them too expensive for your team, try Mauricio Tévez of Newell’s in Argentina. Starting out at 67 OVR at just 17 years old, he’s a right midfielder who really looks like he could exceed his potential if he gets enough games and plays well enough. And speaking of potential, at 79 he’s going to be growing quickly and heading towards his potential in no time; should he exceed it, you’ll get a player in the 80s for a super low price.
In terms of his stats, he’s very quick (79 acceleration, 82 sprint speed) and has 80 balance, high dribbling and good ball control. Like Gnabry he’ll be beating defenders left right and centre with this combination of pace and tricky footwork. But as well as that, he’s got good stamina, unlike many young players who can only last half a game. He’ll be devastating at lower league level, and is affordable for many teams on a tight budget.
Speaking of which, enquire about him and Newell’s only want £775,000 for him, despite your scout valuing him at £500,000 (which should prompt an enquiry price of at least £1.5m). His wages are very affordable at £3,000, putting him within reach of many lower league teams.
Clinton N’Jié: potential 81
Clinton N’Jié is extremely fast and extremely cheap, something that will make him incredible for lower league teams
This article has been full of great bargains, and I’ve found another one for you in the form of Clinton N’Jié. This guy has some absolutely amazing stats that would be good on any team, but with his low price they will be a godsend to lower league teams looking for a cheap right midfielder.
For starters, he is blisteringly fast, with 92 acceleration and 92 sprint speed. That alone will see him tearing lower league defences apart. But as well as that, he’s got 74 dribbling, 70 ball control and four star skill moves, which makes him even more awesome. He’s also got amazing balance (85) and agility (83), as well as a powerful shot, so can get himself around defenders and could contribute a few goals to your team in the process.
And perhaps the best part? Although your scout values him at £575,000, Olympique Lyon only want £300,000. You would expect them to ask for £1.5m or more, but for some reason they’re happy to let him go for a rock bottom price. You can get him for around £200,000, and his wages are £9,000.
