The Lower League Gems series is back once again, bringing you super cheap high potential players. If you liked the series on the best cheap players in FIFA 15 but felt they were too expensive, these are the articles for you – every player will cost you £1m or less!

NOTE: Prices seem to fluctuate a bit on FIFA 15, so you may find the prices listed in this article are slightly different on your game. As such, this article aims to be a guide only and hopes to highlight some of the cheaper options when it comes to high potential players.

If you’re not sure what these articles are all about, click the bold link below. Otherwise, let’s get straight in to the article.

These articles aim to highlight young, high potential players that are priced at £1m or less. If a player is not available to buy straight away, their maximum price (in the ‘Cost’ column; see below) is £500,000. Most articles will showcase players with a minimum potential of 76 (although in some cases having a minimum potential of 77 brought back more than enough players).

This year I made a couple of exceptions to the price rules. I have included players whose clubs want £1.1m for them (as opposed to a maximum price of £1m) because you can negotiate this down to under £1m, and in some cases excluding these players meant to articles were lacking players you could actually buy straight away! For the same reason I have bumped the £500,000 rule up to just under £600,000 (e.g. £525,000, £575,000, etc).

The ‘Cost’ column refers to the price your scout will bring back after he’s looked at the player. The ‘They want’ column refers to the price you will be quoted by the team if you enquire about their player. These enquiry prices are negotiable, so don’t be afraid to bid below what they want.

The ‘Avai?’ column is short for ‘Available?’ and refers to whether the player is available to buy in the first transfer window. The first letter indicates this (Y for yes, they are available and N for no, they are not), whilst the number refers to the length of their contract. Y/1 means the player’s contract is about to expire, so you should be able to get them for a discount price.

Finally, because EA release update squads every week, this could mean that some of the players listed in the article below are slightly different on your game. Furthermore, players sometimes exceed their potential, while it has been noted that occasionally players don’t grow as hoped. Therefore these stats are a guide only.

NOTE: Victoriano Garces is a free agent, so he will be assigned to a random team when you start a career. This means that his wages, contract length and expected price will change every time, so I have left these areas blank. However, given that your scout puts a valuation of £325,000 on him, he’s cheap enough to be included in this guide.

So, here’s who I picked out for cheap, high potential right backs.

Gianluca Pollace: potential 79

FIFA 15 best cheap right backs for under £1m

Gianluca Pollace has a fantastic price considering he has a strong 79 potential

Gianluca Pollace represents a perfect blend of bargain price tag and high potential. Lazio only ask for £500,000 for him, but for that small amount you get a player with 79 potential who grows into a very technically accomplished right back. Though he starts with a fairly low OVR, it is already apparent that he is a very nicely balanced player who is able to attack and defend in equal measure. Once he hits his potential, therefore, he should be very capable player.

And because he has to grow 20 points to reach his potential, he should grow very quickly – 3-4 points a season, maybe even as much as 5 points if he plays well. So impressive will his growth be that you’ll ask yourself how you managed to get such a player for such a low price. Though his physical stats could be better, they should hopefully develop nicely once he hits his 20s (as young players are known to experience low physical growth until they reach this sort of age – an unfortunate bug this year).

Speaking of which, you should be able to negotiate his £500,000 asking price down to around the £400,000 mark, perhaps even lower. Combined with wages of £2,250, that makes him one of the cheapest options while also being one of the most promising. Now that’s pretty much the definition of a bargain.

Lukas Klostermann: potential 77

FIFA 15 best cheap right backs for under £1m

Lukas Klostermann is extremely fast and can use his pace to give a welcome boost to any lower league team

If you like the look of Pollace but are put off by his physical stats, Lukas Klostermann could be the ideal solution. He starts with a godly 82 acceleration and 85 sprint speed, which at lower league level will make him devastating on the counter and invaluable when defending. He’s got the pace to beat defenders going forward but to catch up if he’s caught out of position, so should prove useful at both ends of the pitch.

In terms of his technical stats, he’s more focused towards defending. He’s also 6’1″ and has 84 jumping, so he can easily fill in at centre back if you need him to. His high speed will make him extremely handy at centre back, where pace is often something of a rarity. This flexibility is another boost to lower league clubs, who often can’t afford to buy many players and so need people who can play in a number of different roles and positions.

Enquire to RB Leipzig (in the German second division) and they won’t want to sell him in the first window. However, your scout’s valuation of £120,000 means you’re likely to be able to get a good deal for him in January, perhaps in the £600,000 – £700,000 range (though prices will vary depending on which squad update you use). His wages are super cheap at £750.

Kenny Tete: potential 77

FIFA 15 best cheap right backs for under £1m

Kenny Tete is superbly well rounded and will become adept at any task required of him

Finally we have Kenny Tete of Ajax, and I’ve chosen him because he’s easily the most well-balanced player in this article. With 78 acceleration and 76 sprint speed, he’s got excellent pace, which will serve him well at right back. But unlike many full backs – who are often small and rather weak – Tete has 70 strength, so he’ll be able to put in a shift in defence and help snuff out attacks. His 76 jumping and 5’11” height mean that, like Klostermann, he could help out at centre back and will be able to clear corners and crosses before they become a danger.

This balance extends to his physical stats, too. His 67 dribbling and 64 crossing will both develop nicely and make him into a lethal assist provider, but his 67 marking, 62 standing tackle and 62 sliding tackle stats mean he’s decent when it comes to shutting out opposition attacks. And like Pollace, his high potential will see him grow into an astute all-rounder who can contribute in all areas of the pitch.

Ajax will ask for £825,000 for him, but you can bring this down to around £600,000. His wages are £1,750.
