The Lower League Gems series is back once again, bringing you super cheap high potential players. If you liked the series on the best cheap players in FIFA 15 but felt they were too expensive, these are the articles for you – every player will cost you £1m or less!

NOTE: Prices seem to fluctuate a bit on FIFA 15, so you may find the prices listed in this article are slightly different on your game. As such, this article aims to be a guide only and hopes to highlight some of the cheaper options when it comes to high potential players.

If you’re not sure what these articles are all about, click the bold link below. Otherwise, let’s get straight in to the article.

Tonight I’m looking at goalscorers – strikers who excel with the ball at their feet. They are often fast and have excellent shooting and dribbling ability, so if you enjoy scoring goals with the ball on the deck, these are the players for you. If you’re looking for a strong striker who can dominate the aerial battles, you’ll need my article on target men, which comes out on Sunday.

These articles aim to highlight young, high potential players that are priced at £1m or less. If a player is not available to buy straight away, their maximum price (in the ‘Cost’ column; see below) is £500,000. Most articles will showcase players with a minimum potential of 76 (although in some cases having a minimum potential of 77 brought back more than enough players).

This year I made a couple of exceptions to the price rules. I have included players whose clubs want £1.1m for them (as opposed to a maximum price of £1m) because you can negotiate this down to under £1m, and in some cases excluding these players meant to articles were lacking players you could actually buy straight away! For the same reason I have bumped the £500,000 rule up to just under £600,000 (e.g. £525,000, £575,000, etc).

The ‘Cost’ column refers to the price your scout will bring back after he’s looked at the player. The ‘They want’ column refers to the price you will be quoted by the team if you enquire about their player. These enquiry prices are negotiable, so don’t be afraid to bid below what they want.

The ‘Avai?’ column is short for ‘Available?’ and refers to whether the player is available to buy in the first transfer window. The first letter indicates this (Y for yes, they are available and N for no, they are not), whilst the number refers to the length of their contract. Y/1 means the player’s contract is about to expire, so you should be able to get them for a discount price.

Finally, because EA release update squads every week, this could mean that some of the players listed in the article below are slightly different on your game. Furthermore, players sometimes exceed their potential, while it has been noted that occasionally players don’t grow as hoped. Therefore these stats are a guide only.

Here are my recommendations for cheap, high potential goalscorers.

Adam Armstrong: potential 80

FIFA 15 best cheap goalscorers for under £1m

Adam Armstrong has great potential and is nicely balanced

Adam Armstrong is an ideal player if you’re looking for someone with a bit of versatility and who can fulfill multiple roles. He can shoot, head, dribble, pass and take penalties, so whatever you need him to do attacking-wise, he’ll be good at it. Thanks to his high potential, when he gets up towards 80 OVR this good mix of stats will mean he’ll be very well balanced indeed.

He’s good physically too, with good pace but also excellent stamina, something quite rare for a young player. That will allow him to play as many games as possible, thereby aiding his development. And although he starts with a fairly low OVR, he’s got 80 potential and is very young, so will grow absolutely loads.

Though you can’t get him in the first window, Newcastle Utd will ask for £1.1m for him in January. Though that’s slightly above the usual £1m limit on players, I’ve allowed it because he’s so good and because you can easily get him for around £800,000 to £900,000. His wages are £2,250.

Devante Cole: potential 79

FIFA 15 best cheap goalscorers for under £1m

Devante Cole has blistering pace which will leave lower league defenders in the dust

If you’re looking for a speedy goalscorer who can rip defences apart with his pace, look no further than Devante Cole. With 88 acceleration and 93 sprint speed, he’s going to be uncatchable once he gets going. That’s going to be absolutely devastating at lower league level, where pacey opponents are rarer and defenders are more vulnerable.

He’s a bit more raw than Adam Armstrong when it comes to technical stats, but Devante Cole does have a trick up his sleeve. Because his OVR is fairly low but his potential is very high, he will grow very quickly because he has lots of catching up to do. This means that his technical stats will develop quickly to match his already impressive pace, turning him into a spectacular goalscorer in a couple of years.

Barnsley want £1.1m for him but you can knock that down to around £800,000 to £900,000. His wages are just £2,000.

Samed Yesil: potential 77

FIFA 15 best cheap goalscorers for under £1m

Samed Yesil has some great stats for his OVR and is available at a knockdown price

When it comes to banging in the goals, there aren’t many better players in this article than Samed Yesil. His 72 finishing and 71 dribbling mean he has an unerring knack of beating defenders and finding the back of the net, a habit aided by his excellent positioning. Great stats like that are rare on a 63 rated player, so he should play much better than his OVR suggests.

Like Cole, he’s got a bit of catching up to do so should grow quickly. This will see him develop into a lethal poacher, the type of player who can pop up in the right place at the right time and finish off chances with consummate ease.

And like Cole, there’s also more to Yesil than meets the eye. Even though your scout puts a value of £275,000 on him, Liverpool will only ask for £160,000. That means you can get him for around £120,000, an absolute steal for a player like this. And with wages of £5,000, he’s affordable too, and should become a crucial asset to any lower league team that calls upon his services.
