The Lower League Gems series is back once again, bringing you super cheap high potential players. If you liked the series on the best cheap players in FIFA 15 but felt they were too expensive, these are the articles for you – every player will cost you £1m or less!

NOTE: Prices seem to fluctuate a bit on FIFA 15, so you may find the prices listed in this article are slightly different on your game. As such, this article aims to be a guide only and hopes to highlight some of the cheaper options when it comes to high potential players.

If you’re not sure what these articles are all about, click the bold link below. Otherwise, let’s get straight in to the article.

These articles aim to highlight young, high potential players that are priced at £1m or less. If a player is not available to buy straight away, their maximum price (in the ‘Cost’ column; see below) is £500,000. Most articles will showcase players with a minimum potential of 76 (although in some cases having a minimum potential of 77 brought back more than enough players).

This year I made a couple of exceptions to the price rules. I have included players whose clubs want £1.1m for them (as opposed to a maximum price of £1m) because you can negotiate this down to under £1m, and in some cases excluding these players meant to articles were lacking players you could actually buy straight away! For the same reason I have bumped the £500,000 rule up to just under £600,000 (e.g. £525,000, £575,000, etc).

The ‘Cost’ column refers to the price your scout will bring back after he’s looked at the player. The ‘They want’ column refers to the price you will be quoted by the team if you enquire about their player. These enquiry prices are negotiable, so don’t be afraid to bid below what they want.

The ‘Avai?’ column is short for ‘Available?’ and refers to whether the player is available to buy in the first transfer window. The first letter indicates this (Y for yes, they are available and N for no, they are not), whilst the number refers to the length of their contract. Y/1 means the player’s contract is about to expire, so you should be able to get them for a discount price.

Finally, because EA release update squads every week, this could mean that some of the players listed in the article below are slightly different on your game. Furthermore, players sometimes exceed their potential, while it has been noted that occasionally players don’t grow as hoped. Therefore these stats are a guide only.

Here are my recommendations for cheap, high potential attacking midfielders.

Jeremie Boga: potential 80

FIFA 15 best cheap attacking midfielders for under £1m

Jeremie Boga has fantastic potential and brings the extra advantage of being well suited to the wing

Don’t be fooled by his OVR, Jeremie Boga is a real talent. With 80 potential, he’s going to grow extremely fast (he grew at least 4 points a season in my tests) and will quickly become one of the most important players in your squad. And unlike many young players, he has very high stamina (rated 76). That will be a massive boost to his growth because it means he can play game after game, and more games equals more growth – especially if he plays well.

With his 78 acceleration, 78 sprint speed and 70 dribbling, he’s going to be a real handful for defenders. His strength in these areas means he can also play on the wing if needed, bringing an extra element of flexibility that can be vital for clubs that lack funds but who need to bring in multi-talented players. His finishing is also one of his better stats, so he can finish off the chances that his good speed and dribbling create.

You can’t get him in the first transfer window, but wait until January and you’ll be quoted a price of £1m by Chelsea. You can therefore get him for around £800,000, and his wages are £2,250.

Jesse Lingard: potential 77

FIFA 15 best cheap attacking midfielders for under £1m

Jesse Lingard is a great attacking midfielder who can score goals as well as create them

Now if you’re looking for a player who will make his greatest impact through the middle of the pitch rather than on the wing, have a look at Jesse Lingard. In terms of his technical stats, his most impressive attributes are his dribbling and passing. With 71 vision and 71 short passing, he will be able to spot the runs of his teammates and pick them out to create chances. Should you need to beat defenders with his skill rather than passing, that won’t be a problem either.

But what really sets him out is his excellent finishing for someone of his OVR. Unlike many CAMs, who can pass and dribble but fall short when it comes to scoring, Lingard’s 69 finishing will enable him to score goals as well as create them. And if that wasn’t enough, his 81 acceleration and 76 sprint speed will see him driving through opposition defences and causing havoc in front of goal.

Even though your scout’s valuation is £775,000 (which usually results in the team wanting a few million in payment), Manchester United only want £450,000 for Lingard. You can knock that down to about £300,000, while his wages are £10,000.

Francisco Pizzini: potential 76

FIFA 15 best cheap attacking midfielders for under £1m

Francisco Pizzini is an all-rounder who comprises some of the best elements of both Boga and Lingard

If you can’t decide which player to go for and want someone who can do a bit of everything, Francisco Pizzini could well be your man. Like Boga, he’s got good pace and dribbling, so can beat defenders by himself, but if a teammate presents a better option then he can find him with his good passing and ball control, much like Lingard.

But he’s also got great attributes that sets him apart from Boga and Lingard. His crossing, for example, is very good, allowing him to play as a left or right midfielder and supply your team’s forwards with dangerous balls into the box. His long shots and shot power are also two standouts, so don’t be afraid to use him to shoot from distance should the opportunity arise.

Like Lingard, your scout’s valuation of Pizzini is £775,000, but as with Lingard, you won’t have to pay the millions you would expect to. His club, Independiente in Argentina, want just £975,000 for him, so he can be yours for around £800,000. His wages are £7,000.
