The series is back for FIFA 15! In these articles I look at the best cheap, high potential players in FIFA 15, with tonight’s post focusing on right midfielders and right wingers. I’ll go through a few recommendations, then show you the full list of top quality players afterwards. For a full run down of how I choose the players and what the different columns in the table mean, click on “What are these articles all about?” below.

The articles in this series should give you some ideas if you’re looking for a new signing in a key area. There is one article for each position on the pitch to make it easy for you to quickly find players to bolster your squad.
All of the players given here have a minimum potential of 80, so you know you’re getting quality. The maximum OVR for each player is 73, both to keep transfer prices down and to avoid presenting you with too many options and thus making it too difficult to choose the player you need.
The ‘Avai?’ column is short for ‘available?’ and refers both to whether or not you can buy the specified player at the start of the first season and how long their current contract is. Let’s take Y/2 as an example – Y means that yes, you can buy him at the start of a new career, and the number means he has two years left on his contract. Similarly, N/3 would mean that no, you can’t buy the player straight away, and he has three years left on his contract. These ‘no’ players are often available for transfer if you wait until the January transfer window, however. For some players this column is blank – this means that they are out on loan at the start and are therefore unavailable for purchase until the second season.
Initial player costs may seem very low this year. The figure in the player cost column refers to the price you are given if you scout the player. But I’ve also added a new column this time round – ‘They want’. This refers to the price the other team want for the player if you enquire about him. Often there is a large difference between the player cost obtained through scouting and that obtained through an enquiry. This leaves a lot of room for negotiation, so don’t be put off if a price in the ‘They want’ column is high, as you can usually get the player for much less. Try bidding lower than what you think will be accepted – you may be surprised at their response. If the ‘They want’ column is blank it’s because the team refused to give a price, either because the player has just joined them or because they are loaning him in.
And as a final note, in FIFA 14 EA update player OVRs and potentials every week. Mose of the time these are very minor changes, and most players won’t be affected at all unless they have had a very noteworthy week. Furthermore, some players occasionally disappear if they have been put in the reserve squad that week. So just bear in mind that these figures should be read as a guide only and not a definitive account of player costs, potentials, etc, for the entire season.[/expand]
Let’s check out tonight’s recommended right midfielders and right wingers.
Leon Goretzka: potential 85
What I like about Leon Goretzka is his flexibility. He’s got good pace, dribbling and crossing, so naturally fits into the role of a wide right player, but there’s so much more to him than that. He’s tall and good in the air, and his tackling is fairly good too, so you could play him as a holding midfielder or even a defender if needed. His shots from distance aren’t bad either, and his height and aerial presence mean he could equally do well up front as well. The fact that he is just as good at shooting as he is at tackling tells you everything about his flexibility.
Thanks to his 85 potential, this means he’ll develop into a very well-rounded midfielder as he approaches his potential. He’s an exceptional utility man, able to adapt to whatever you need him to do and excel at it.
An enquiry to FC Schalke 04 brings back a price of just £3.3m, and I got him for £2.4m, with his wages being £30,000. Considering he starts at 73 OVR and has potential 85, that’s an amazing bargain. But ironically enough, he’s the most ‘expensive’ player I’m recommending tonight – though it probably isn’t fair to describe him as expensive! Read on for three more amazing bargains, all for under £1m.
Federico Berardeschi: potential 81
Next up we have what could well be a contender for bargain of the season – Federico Bernardeschi. He comes in at 70 OVR with 81 potential, and is 20 years old. HeHe’s got excellent pace and dribbling, and his four star skills moves will give him a box of tricks with which to bamboozle defenders.
But what really makes him stand out from the crowd is his price. Send off an enquiry to Fiorentina and they send back a demand of £0 – yes, nothing! You’d be a fool not to take them up on their rather generous offer, and as long as you can afford his £20,000 wages then he’s yours. I don’t know if this is a glitch or something intentional from EA, but it enables you to grab an unbelievable bargain and get a great player on your team.
Serge Gnabry: potential 82
The bargains keep on coming, as next up we have Serge Gnabry. Already a very pacey player with superb balance and dribbling, it won’t be long before he develops into an unstoppable force on the right wing. Given that he starts a career at just 18 years old, he looks to have a very bright future indeed.
Starting with 70 OVR at that age is rare, and you’d expect Arsenal to ask for a fair few million for him. But no – send off an enquiry and the Gunners want just £625,000 for him. With Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain ahead of him, Arsenal must deem him an expendable asset. No complaints here – getting a player with 82 potential, great starting OVR and some exceptional stats for just over half a million sounds good to me!
Kelvin: potential 80
In my article on attacking midfielders I said I thought Vitinho was a good bargain and probably one of the cheapest five star skillers in FIFA 15. Well, I stand corrected, because Kelvin has trumped him by a mile.
With devastating five star skill moves and 84 dribbling, he’s already almost got the Dribbler speciality. He’s fast and extremely agile, and can be lethal from distance and free kicks. He’s the ideal option if you use a 4-3-3 formation, or if you just enjoy beating defenders with skills and trickery.
It seems he’s in a similar situation to Gnabry at Arsenal, as an enquiry to FC Porto brings back a price of just £1.4m (despite your scout valuing him at £2m). I was able to get him for £850,000 on £35,000 wages, which makes him around ten times cheaper than Vitinho and by far the cheapest high potential five star skiller in FIFA 15. Now that’s an opportunity that doesn’t come along very often.
