Today I will be posting guides to wide players. This first one is on right-sided midfielders, both RMs and RWs – there is often a lot of overlap (i.e. RWs are often mislabelled as RMs in the game, etc). There are two types of wide right player – the RM and the RW. The right midfielder (RM) plays deeper than a right winger (RW), and his job is to provide service to the strikers from the flanks. These players are usually very good at crossing and long balls, and can be relied upon to provide quality service into the box. Right wingers, on the other hand, usually play a little further up the pitch, and directly contribute to the attack, along with a (usually) lone striker. These players are often very fast, have great dribbling skills, and often have a trick or two up their sleeve. They are usually decent at shooting as well. When determining which player from the list below you want, bear in mind your team’s needs – do you need a right midfielder or a right winger? Looking at the player’s stats should help you determine which type of wide player they are.
As usual, in an attempt to make this relevant to as many players as possible, I have not included any right midfielders whose OVR is above 73 – this way you can keep your costs down and have some cash left over for other purchases (be they real players or new scouts). Furthermore, I have listed the players by cost, with the cheapest at the top of each sub-group (players are grouped by potential).
My recommendations are:
- Simone Verdi
- Giorgi Chanturia
- Jacopo Sala
- Patryk Ma?ecki
Simone Verdi is definitely a winger (as opposed to an RM). He is very fast, has great balance and good dribbling skills as well. He has a 5 star weak foot, which makes him very versatile as well – you could play him on either wing and still be able to choose whether to let him cross or cut inside and shoot, as neither option will let you down with his weak foot. He grows into one of the best wingers in the game, but be sure to move early for him – his price rises quickly.
Where to start with Giorgi Chanturia? At just 18 years old he already comes with the Dribbler speciality. Combine this with fantastic balance and 5 star skill moves, and he is a dream when taking on defenders. He is also very pacey when he breaks into a sprint. A future superstar. Great fun to play with.
Jacopo Sala is my third choice, and he is much more of an RM than a winger. I chose him not just because of his bargain price, but also because of his versatility. He is just as comfortable playing as a striker or just behind the front two as he is out wide, meaning if you have an injury or a tired player he can easily slot into their position – you’re essentially buying two players for the (very low) price of one. He also takes a mean free kick and has a very strong weak foot (4 stars).
Patryk Ma?ecki is a late addition to this list because I only really realised what a beast he turns into after I’d played a few seasons on my career mode. By the 4th season of my career (with him still playing for Kraków; I haven’t bought him yet), here are a few of his stats: acceleration 95, sprint 87, balance 98, stamina 99, strength 92, jumping 89, agility 88, dribbling 88, finishing 83, shot power 90. Bear in mind I am playing post-patch, i.e. after physical stat growth was radically slowed down, and he is still a monster. He is lightning fast, super strong, has amazing stamina and has a five star weak foot, meaning he’s lethal whichever side you put him on. Add to that his fantastic dribbling skills and brilliant finishing, and you have a superb attacker on your hands. As an added bonus, because he plays in Poland other teams won’t go near him, meaning you can buy him when you need him the most and don’t have to worry about other teams snapping him up. Not to be missed.
Please bear in mind that these figures may not be exactly the same on your game. These stats are taken from my own personal experiences, but are likely to be very similar to those on your own game. The best thing to do is to make sure you keep checking these players, as their prices may drop radically after a while.
Finally, if you’ve had any experiences of good players’ prices changing wildly (especially if their price drops), please post it in the comments!
