Retro gaming, plus Lower League Gems coming soon

How is retro gaming surviving into the next gen era?

I’ve put up a post on The Next Level Gaming having a look at how retro gaming is alive and well in the next gen console era. The article looks at how platforms like Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network are extending the lives of these games, and how they are helping younger gamers discover retro classics. I also argue that although some retro remakes are disappointing, they can nevertheless raise awareness of retro gaming as a whole, which could help draw more people into it.

If you’re a fan of retro gaming or remember playing games like Super Mario or Sonic in your childhood, I’d love it if you could head over to the article (here) and tell what you think about retro gaming in the modern era. There’s a video and interview in the article, plus a poll, so I’d be very grateful if you could share your thoughts!

In other news, from the 14th December I will be on Christmas break, so I’ll have more time to get going with articles. During this time I will be doing the Lower League Gems articles as a priority. I will also have to do postgrad work and paid work, so if there is anything (aside from Lower League Gems) that you want to see on this site as a priority, please leave a comment below and let me know.

Cheers,
Alex
