In this post, besidavi on the FIFA 12 forums explains a good way to generate 5*5* scouts. The original post is here.
To increase your chances of getting a 5*5* scout:
OK, this procedure involves reloading from save states so if you’re against that quit reading now! It also needs a CM where money is not an issue for you. This is because it involves buying lots of scouts (often the most expensive ones). I started doing this as a test when I had millions in the bank and nothing to spend it on. The final prerequisite, although not essential, is that you do this in a blank week (no matches) so the start of a season is ideal and June (English leagues) even better! This is just for simplicity and time. The example I will use is the best case scenario – i.e. seeing the most scouts possible in one game week.
1) Save your game on a Thursday with 7 blank days ahead and no scouts hired (3 blank spaces). Have a look at your scouts available. No 5*5* scouts? No problem!
2) Click advance but immediately stop the sim. This will stop you on Friday. Friday is the day the network resets with new scouts. If there is a 5*5* buy it! If not, buy the scout with most stars (even if the best is 3*3*) and he’ll be ‘in transit’.
3) Now go to the next free slot and click ‘hire scout’. You’ll notice that the bought scout has been replaced by one of roughly equal status but – crucially – more often than not better. If not 5*5*, buy the best one available. Repeat this for the third empty slot to have 3 scouts in transit. By now, you may have got a 5*5* scout to keep if you’re lucky. If not:
4) Advance again, this time not worrying about stopping it. It will stop on Sunday automatically as the scouts tell you they’ve arrived. Go back to the network and sack them all giving yourself 3 empty slots again as they’re not what we’re after.
5) Now have a look. One scout will be new as it replaced the third one you bought. If it’s not what you’re after, repeat the process of buying the best available so you can see their replacement. When you have three in transit, advance again and it will stop on Tuesday.
6) Fire the newly arrived scouts immediately and look at the replacement one. Buy 3 again, remembering to buy best each time. Advance again. We’re now at Thursday.
7) Fire all scouts and look at the replacement. If you haven’t got a 5*5* scout after all those, reload and start again from the top. It’s much quicker than my rambling suggests.
So, this method allows you to see the whole reset field of scouts on the Friday, plus 9 extra ones that have been added as replacements for bought scouts in one week. You will get 5*5* scouts very quickly this way, probably every time through, it’s just whether or not you like their nationality (i.e. whether you’re happy having 3 5*5* Polish scouts). I have been able to get 3 5*5* scouts in one week this way very easily. As LeBron has hinted at before (on the FIFA 12 forums), if you buy a 5*5*, it’s quite common to get another as replacement.
Notes: This is a pretty expensive method. 5*5* scouts cost £9m each, so I imagine you’d need at least £50m to afford to buy all the other scouts, plus your 3 5*5* scouts. However, if you take scouting seriously and aren’t bothered about buying many regular players, then this is a very useful method.
As besidavi later clarified on the forums, a cheaper way would be to buy the cheapest scouts every time, instead of the most expensive ones. The problem with this is that it appears that cheap scouts are more likely to be replaced with more cheap ones. Though it is conceivably possible for a 1*1* scout to be replaced with a 5*5* one, it’s probably very rare (and even rarer to get 3 5*5* scouts using this method in one sitting). Therefore, if you have less money you probably either have to be very patient and be prepared to put up with lots of reloading, or else settle for 1 5*5* scout (or if not then the best that you can afford). Of course, this may not be a problem if you only need 1 scout and already have 2 other decent scouts.
And of course, none of this is a problem if you’re playing as the Man Citys of the world 😛
